At Savannah G's Honey Bees, our mission is to promote the importance of bees and sustainable beekeeping practices. We strive to provide high-quality honey while educating the community about the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. In addition to our honey production and educational efforts, we offered low-cost swarm removal services. We provide a safe and humane way to relocate these swarms, ensuring the bees are not harmed and preventing them from establishing hives in undesirable locations. These rescued swarms are then carefully transported to our apiary, where they contribute to our honey production and help us expand our bee population.
Savannah G's Honey Bees is home to many rescued hives! Since welcoming several new hives, we have been able to reopen honey preorders! We also have an online store with bee-themed items, and the proceeds go to the care of our hives!
The honey flow has started and the bees are hard at work! We have set our harvest day to August 17th!

Yes, absolutely! Savannah G's Honey Bees is a legally registered Limited Liability Company (LLC) which operates as a safe and legal business, fully compliant with all applicable local and state regulations, including Florida's Cottage Food Law. This law allows us to produce and sell certain homemade food products, like our honey, directly to consumers. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in all our products and services, giving you peace of mind when purchasing from us.
Yes! I have a certificate in beekeeping from the University of Florida, as well as completed the UF/IFAS 2025 Bee College, and am a member of the Florida State Beekeepers Association. I also register each of my hives with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and they are state inspected annually.
When we collect a swarm, we prioritize the bees' safety and well-being. Our process involves carefully capturing the queen bee, which naturally draws the rest of the swarm into a specialized collection box. We avoid any harsh chemicals or methods that could harm the bees. Once the entire swarm is safely contained, we transport them to our apiary in Gainesville, where they are introduced to a new, healthy hive. This method ensures the bees are relocated without stress or injury, allowing them to continue their vital role in our ecosystem.
Unfortunately, our apiary is at peak capacity. We are no longer offering swarm removals. We do not want to be overwhelmed and become neglectful of any hives, so for the foreseeable future, we are done with swarm removals.
Our honey is harvested by removing frames from the hive that are filled with surplus honeycomb. The honeycomb is then extracted using a centrifuge to spin out the honey, which is then filtered and bottled. The empty comb is placed back into the hive, so the bees can refill the cells with fresh honey!
